We’re thrilled to kick off this year’s Literacy Loves Campaign!
At 3Ls The Academy, we believe that literacy is a fundamental right, not a privilege but far too many Black and Brown students are still being left behind.
This year, we have two major goals:
Expand the West Oakland Literacy Hub to reach even more students with books, educators, and culturally responsive literacy support.
Fully launch and sustain a literacy program at multiple West Oakland schools. Elementary, ensuring students in high-need communities get the literacy interventions they deserve.
Last year’s donations helped us open The West Oakland Hub through our Sister School Model and we quickly realized the importance of having our neighborhood model take root; growing and scaling in each community where we plant.
In Oakland, there are schools and neighborhoods where access to literacy programs is limited or nonexistent.
That's why the 3Ls Literacy Love Annual Fundraising Campaign is so crucial.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to build 3Ls sister schools in these underserved communities, providing children with the resources and support they need to thrive.
Expand The West Oakland Literacy Hub.
Our primary objective is to expand the West Oakland Literacy Hub, increasing access to literacy programs for more students with the resources, educators, and support they need to succeed.
Why this matters:
In Oakland, fewer than 1 in 5 Black children read at grade level.
Only 18.6% of Latinx students are proficient in reading.
Without early literacy intervention, students face long-term educational challenges.
To ensure the success of our expanded initiatives, we need to hire and train additional teachers who are passionate about literacy education. Your donations will enable us to recruit dedicated educators who can effectively implement our programs and provide personalized support to students.
Hire Additional Staff.
Provide Coaching For Principals.
We recognize the importance of strong leadership in driving educational change. Through this campaign, we aim to offer coaching and training opportunities for principals in underserved communities. By equipping school leaders with the skills and resources they need, we can foster a culture of excellence and support sustainable growth in literacy education.
